Such as the life of an Alpaca Rancher...

I am originally from Norway and grew up on a little island just south of the Arctic Circle (Rørvik, Norway). Fishing and farming provided the livelyhood for most people, we did not live on a farm, but I managed to spend as much time as possible at neighboring farms and always loved animals. My grandmother sheared sheep at local farms, and from her I learned everything I know about fiber, from cleaning, carding and spinning yarn to knitting, weaving, felting etc.

I came to America at age 17 by myself, leaving behind all that I had known. For the last 35 plus years I have made America my home and love it here. I have two grown children, two very young grandchildren and a wonderful son & daughter in law.

In addition to working in the banking industry for the last 17 years, I have spent the last nine years establishing my farm. Attending auctions, showing animals, purchasing animals, educating myself in regards to breed standards from the best has what created, "Graceland Alpaca Farm", what it is today.

Each and every day I am living "The Alpaca Lifestyle" that I have watched from afar for so long. I wouldn't have it any other way.
